What exactly goes on behind the scenes with your portraits? A lot. Every photo that you order as a print, or that is included in an album, goes through three stages of retouching on our end. After your portrait session or wedding, all of your images are uploaded and backed up (of course). At this point, the images are straight out of the camera (SOOC) and no retouching has occurred. We typically refer to SOOC images as “digital negatives.” Here is an example.
The next stage is the proof stage of a photo. The proofs that you see in your personal gallery are all adjusted for white balance, exposure, contrast, and color, as seen here.
Some photographers will stop at the proof stage. Not us. We take your favorite photos that you order as prints or select to be included in your album and give them the extra attention that they deserve. In this third stage, we give your portraits our signature treatment. They receive the basics, such as wiping out blemishes, evening skin tone, custom sharpening, popping the colors, and more. Beyond the basics, they receive our artistic and distinctive retouching that gives you something like this.
And, our black and whites are just as magnificent!
