Editing photos and listening to my favorite band, Needtobreathe…good times. Pat and Kate seem like a perfect fit. She’s coy, he’s outgoing. They both love old Camaros and they are both railroad kids. That doesn’t mean that they are hobos…it means both of their families worked for the railroad! Anyway, we had a blast and they will be getting married later this summer, so stay tuned.

It feels good to be back in the saddle again and writing posts. This couple braved the bleak winter weather with me in order to squeeze the engagement session into their busy schedules. I sure had fun even though I could barely feel my fingers.

She has a thing for zebra prints; fitting (and fun) considering the weather that we were having.

Engagement Session Prior to Country Wedding-Kennewick, WA

I’m excited about this couple for a bunch of reasons. First, this bride-to-be is friends with one of my past clients, who I totally enjoyed! Second, they are having a country wedding, which is still very novel and unique for me (I grew up in big ol’ cities). And, third, they are super friendly and very low-key…my kind of people. Here are some favorites from our recent session.

You may remember this cute (and tall!) couple from a previous post. Back then we did a quick engagement session so that the couple could make save-the-date cards. This time, the session was the real deal. And, these two just get better with time. I’m SO excited to have some fun at their wedding!

Near from Far – Wedding Engagement Portraits in Kennewick, wa

I recently finished an engagement session with a couple that had been traveling all over the Northwest and made specific effort to meet up for some portraits. Thank you! We had lots of fun just walking around and chatting. They had a bit more fun with all the huggin’ and kissin’, but that’s what can make these engagement sessions so enjoyable! Well, here are just a few from our time together.

I am especially glad when I hear that my clients have fun during our sessions. This couple mentioned that they were pretty nervous prior to our time together, but that once we got rolling, things were easy-going and fun. Based on these portraits, I think I agree…these two are naturals!

OSU has special significance for this couple…they met while working together on campus. AND, while OSU is no UCLA, at least they’re in the PAC-10 conference. Got to keep it in the family, ya know?!

Thank you, thank you for making the trip out to the 3-Cities! I had a great time with you guys and I’m excited to see what thrills are in store for your wedding day!

Wedding Engagement Portraits Back in the Orchards – Richland, WA

A short while ago, I took this uber-fun couple to some orchards for a quick engagement portrait session. I know I say this about a lot of clients, but THESE two really are fun, sweet, and good looking. It was cold and grey in the orchards, but these two managed to warm it up with their charm and their love. Here’s a few favorites.

When I saw the limbs of this tree, it reminded me of how this groom-to-be wrapped his lady in his arms. I tried to compose it in such a way as to evoke that same sentiment.

Colorful Engagement Portraits in Gloomy Richland, WA

I was finally able to hook up with this fun couple recently to do their engagement session. It was a gloomy day, but their jolly personalities kept things vibrant. It only took the slightest coaxing to unleash their playfullness. Check it out to see what I mean. The funnest portraits are a result of this couple’s ideas and awesome goofiness. Thanks, guys, for braving the cold with me!

I noticed that she did not have to pull very hard on the scarf…

This shot took a few tries. Cars and security guards kept getting in the way! By the way, did you know that after 9/11, you are not allowed to take pictures in which a federal building is in the background? Now you know…and knowing is half the battle.

I’m so glad we were finally able to find a time without ice, mud, or freezing rain! I can’t wait for your big day.

Engagement Portraits in Mesa, WA

I made the short trip out to Mesa, which is just outside of Pasco, WA. This couple’s family has a farm out there and with the sun just right, we had a lot of photographic options. These love birds were all sorts of fun and loved to kiss and make jokes. I’m posting some of my favorites. By the way, the groom-to-be is an ex-marine and deserves our gratitude. Just thought I’d give him and the other men and women of the armed forces a quick plug.

I usually don’t do a lot of post-processing/Photoshop work because I think that the effects that are popular today can get out-dated very easily tomorrow. Your wedding photos will last your whole life. Case in point, the then-popular black and white photos where the only thing in color is the flowers or the subjects eyes. Very cool back then. Not so much now. But, what the heck…here’s one with some minimal post work. Desaturate a bit, fancy sharpening, and POW.

Do these two seem to be kissing a lot?

Thanks for hangin’ with me even though it got downright frigid towards the end. Can’t wait to see you on your big day!
