About Us

Did you know that there are TWO faces to Allan Tuan Photography?  Well, there are!  So that you can know a little bit about both of these faces, we have put together this list of assorted facts and quirks to share with you.  But before you get there, we want to thank you for considering us to be a part of creating your family heirlooms.  We see photography as just that – family heirlooms.

Allan has a huge passion for photography and the beauty and art that it captures.  He loves lifestyle photography in particular.  Lifestyle photography portrays you naturally – in your typical way of life.  Our portraits do what traditional, formal portraits rarely can; they capture reality and convey context. When you look at your portraits, you should be able to recall the greatest times in your life.  Our aim is to capture the reality of your moments and your life so that years from now, when you flip through your albums or look at the portraits on your walls, you will see and remember those moments you’ll never want to forget…your history.

One of Yolanda’s greatest passions is people.  She loves to get to know people and their families and usually makes friends with them fairly quickly. Her goal in all of this is to help make your experience the best it can be.

Here we are with our favorite people in the whole world!

Now, on to some fun stuff!

About Allan

1)  I’m usually very laid back.  Think “chill-axed.”

2)  Marriage has huge spiritual significance to me, and I love weddings.

3)  I love photography because it is a creative outlet for me, not to mention a huge passion of mine.  I get to express visually the things that I think and feel.   The sound of my camera shutter clicking is strangely thrilling for me.

4)  I’m a bit of a techno-geek.  If it uses electricity, makes sounds, lights up, and does tricks, then I want it.

5)  I will pretty much try any type of food once.

6)  For our honeymoon, I wanted to rent a motorhome and tour the country.  I wanted to bring our chocolate lab along.  I was vetoed.

7)  I have a Ph.D.

8)  I get excited about ideas, especially when they involve new ways of looking and thinking about things.  I think this is part of why I like photography; it is a lot about finding different ways of “seeing” one event.

9)  I think my wife and kids are THE most adorable people.

10) Most of the books I read are non-fiction.  You know what they say about truth being stranger than fiction.

11) I make the best portraits with clients who see our time together as a collaboration.  We work together to get amazing images!

12) Because God has graciously and abundantly provided for everything, I try to enjoy and savor as much as I can while I work as hard as I can in this short life.

About Yolanda

1)  I’m half introvert and half extrovert.  I’ve taken an assortment of personality tests that try to peg you as one or the other and I’ve come out on both sides on more than one occasion.  Hm.

2)  I am the biggest night owl you will ever meet.

3)  I have always, always wished that I was taller.  My dream would be 5′8″, but I’d settle for 5′2″!

4)  I can’t swim and I’m a little embarrassed by it.  I’m thinking about making it my next New Year’s resolution.

5)  I always told people that my dad named me after the daughter of MLK Junior, but I was wrong.  It turns out that he just liked my name.

6)  One word that many people have used to describe me is “approachable.”

7)  I’m sort of a perfectionist.

8)  I love to vacuum.  LOVE it.  Especially love my Dyson.

9)  I’ve bulldozed over a ski instructor once and have had to be rescued by a snow mobile once.  I’m not a good skier.

10)  I love milk chocolate (hate the dark stuff) and my favorite chocolate is the Cadbury Fruit & Nut bar.  I can scarf one down in a matter of minutes!

11)  I get pretty red when I drink.

12)  So far, I’ve only gotten 1 speeding ticket in my life.  I got it while driving a van full of friends to go hear Third Day perform in Seattle. Talk about embarrassing.

13)  I believe that the Bible is 100 percent true and that Jesus is real.  I love the Lord my God with all my heart, all my soul, all all my strength.  One of my life verses is Romans 12:2.

14)  I love that my sister and I are really different, but undeniably alike.  Just spend some time with the two of us and you’ll know what I mean.  I also love that for the first time in over 12 years she’s only minutes away.

15)  I’m very thankful that my parents made me learn how to speak Cantonese.  I regret that I didn’t pass it on to my own kids.

16)  I met Allan when I was 16 and he is the perfect husband for me even though we are opposites in many, many ways.  He is my best friend.

17)  I used to work in HR and miss it a heck of a lot even though I’ve recently come to realize that I would never give up staying at home with my kids to go back.
